Soul Tasty is the best soul food restaurant in the area. It's delicious and sometimes slightly salty depending on what you get, but good soul food is usually somewhat salty. It's at the end of a dead-end street. Part of me thinks if the location were different, it would be even more popular. It could then compete with some of the other restaurants in the area head-on. Some in the area may not be willing to walk to its current location though it's not far from other restaurants. My favorites at Soul Tasty are the whiting fish, wings, candied yams, collared greens, and mac and cheese. The Mac and Cheese especially are a must have.
Grew up in the Deep South so to my surprise I was astonished to find Soul Food of this caliber above the Mason Dixon line. The Mac and cheese is immaculate! The fried chicken is crispy and flavorful. The greens are clean and we'll seasoned.
