    Great food, bad timing

I visited Da Crab Trap for the first time tonight. The short: The food was tasty, but I waited almost an hour for my to-go order. The long: There are a few tables to eat in the restaurant, but most of the dining room is closed (I assume due to COVID). My family and I ordered a variety of items, wings, crab and shrimp combos, the seafood mac, and a fried shrimp plate. We were told it would take awhile because the mac takes time to make. We received one of the combos, however, after seeing several people who ordered after us receive their food, we checked and the mac was ready but we were told we were holding on potatoes for the combos (the potatoes are huge!), after 40 minutes we checked again and they’re packing up our food, only to realize that the shrimp basket is missing and hasn’t even been started by the kitchen. Almost another 20 minutes later, we receive all of the remaining food items. Because of the timing, some of the food was hot, and some was cold by the time we got home. Some of the lemon hot wings were delicious and some were too salty, which tells me that they weren’t evenly seasoned. The seafood mac was good but not great — it was disappointing that the crab meat was imitation crab, considering this is a crab restaurant. No complaints at all about the OG and sampler combos, or the trap butter, I’d recommend those to anyone, and the fried shrimp were great. Service-wise, there were two young ladies working the front counter, one was friendly, one wasn’t. We did receive an apology regarding the wait time. Overall, there’s definitely room for improvement but the food is good enough to bring me back to try it again. Hopefully I’ll be able to give it a higher rating next time!
