  • Lucy Pearl’s

This southern-style bakery is located downtown in the POST Houston food hall. Owner Nicole Morris named the bakery after her mother and serves pies, cookies, lemon bars, macarons and more than 12 different cake flavors. Pictured: Atomic Cake.

  • Mo' Better Brews

Mo' Better Brews, one of Houston's top vegan restaurants, started as the Houston Sauce Co food truck. On the menu, you'll find a donut sandwich, loaded nachos, gumbo, alfredo and more. But you cannot leave without trying their strawberry cheesecake milkshake or the croissant bread pudding. Courtney & Chasitie Lindsay opened this family-friendly comfort food brunch spot that also features local bands and music artists. Pictured: Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake.

  • Freedmen’s Town Farmers Market

Located in Houston’s oldest Black neighborhood, this farmers market has primarily Black owned businesses selling organic produce, bread, baked goods, juices, honey, home goods, and more, every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. Sade Perkins founded this market to provide better access to fresh and local foods. She hopes that it will serve as a gathering space for the community where neighbors can get to know each other. • E-dub-a-licious Treats

Crumbville and its owner, Ella, are staples in the Third Ward community. In addition to baking and selling cookies, stuffed cups, and brownie bars (with vegan & gluten-free options), Ella welcomes local budding entrepreneurs to have pop ups in her store. Get here early before everything is sold out, then enjoy your goodies at Emancipation Park across the street.
